  • unable to search through lookup linked fields

I have attempted without luck. I created an editable grid form. users need to be able to search through loock-up linked fields (data type is select; loock-up method used is automatic) using the quick search form option obviously these fields are linked through a foreign key field in another table but the display field is perhaps the name of an agency or fields with concatenated first and last names data.

Users on the front end need to be able to search through these fields by typing names of agency or peoples names instead of searching by typing the foreign key field data.

I appears to me that scriptcase is not able to handle this type of task, or is there any way to do this type of task.

I also noticed that I am not able to search through date fields using the date format that on the data entered. Please give me an advice when using the various date fields configuration options.

I have used other RAD tools that do handle these kind of search very efficiently. Not sure about how scriptcase does it.

Please drop me a line here.

    much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Re: unable to search through lookup linked fields

I am still not able to search using two concatenated fields. However searching one one lookup field is working only if you type in the text exactly as is stored in the database, meaning that if the word has a capital letter you have to search using the uppercase letter of that word else no result. It would be ideal if people are able to just type the word in any case. Or people at scriptcase make that option configurable.

Re: unable to search through lookup linked fields

I had the same problem with the name search. I solved it by creating a new field in the database (i.e. "displayname"). When inserting a new record this field is filled with the concatenated values of other fields (lets say "Name, Firstname"). Then using a "Number-Auto-Complete" or "Text-Auto-Complete" (depends on your needs) field in the form and you can search for what ever you want no matter if upper or lower case.

Estaba buscando esto, hay forma de hacer LookUp en la seccion de Search?, no tiene sentido hacer lookup en el grid por ejemplo pero tener que hacer la consulta por la clave de la tabla.
