  • Option to select libs for deployment

*Please* make it posible to include/exclude libs for deployment. In SC7 even a small app is over 150MB for upload. If you don't use barcodes, pdf's etc. then you are uploading a *lot* of unused stuf. Besides webspace, it also takes a lot of time.

Especially htmltopdf in all flavours.... McOsX (40M+), Linux, all over 60MB!!!!

(And Im just deploying on a apache host...)

      Over 2 times at least....
I wonder why I have to upload 3 versions of htmltopdf for instance. 2x8mb for linux/w and 1x48MB for OSX...

you know, actually I don't care... if I needed it all. But I am just uploading a project with 8 applications and I don't use pdf, barcodes etc. So why do I have to upload. I think that in the screen for deployment should be a panel where I can select the necessary libs.

        What caused the increase?
        6 looks like a keeper
        No 7 for me

          Hello Albert,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will pass it on to our team.

Remember that you only have to upload those "heavy" libraries on the first time for "small" changes on your system. That from the second time on, you can deploy just the applications that were altered in the meantime.

          regards,

Yes Bernhard, I know that. But after every update of SC (which come pretty regular) you have to upload all as you cannot be sure if there are changes in the libs... And the current lib size is not large, but huge! For people with fast internet like me it isn't a real issue, but it will be for others. And I don't share libs between projects on production... So for every project I have at least 150MB of webspace needed...

I have over 10 applications on our intranet
              All with their own libs
I just checked the server space and have over 350 meg of space on the server
And now your telling me a simple project like a phone list is going to go from
              A 28 meg prod deployment to a 60 or 70 meg deployment?

My guess us the deployment for third party apps has grown huge when deployed

What happens to all of the users that won't upgrade to 7 because of bugs and things like this?

Haven't seen any updates for 6 since this version has come out
