SC7 the grid editable form my custom url link not working
Your problem is, that form_contactlist is a form. You can indeed deactivate form / settings / Use modal form to edit to "No", but this changes only to inline editor. Your contactlist should by a grid, then you can link the pencil to your form_contact.
- you want edit in the same "form" => use form (single record, editable grid view etc.)
- you want show data and edit in another form => use grid and link your form

I use ScriptCase 8 Enterprise Edition, Version 8.(latest)
Yes that is what I did in the beginning. Because I thought is was more logic to use a Grid for the form_contactlist.
But when you use a grid as the detail of master/detail form you do not have a Add button.
I only get an Add button when a use the grid as the master form and not as a detail form.
Maybe I do something wrong. It must be, because it is so basic stuff.
I need a grid in a detail where I can Add, Edit and Delete records.
Allthough the things in my previous posts are still a bug in SC.
That is why I use an editable grid view. This was also advised by another SC user.
I find this really strange because it is so basic.
When you already have a record in your detail grid then you can edit this record and then Add a new record from the edit form. This is still a strange way to go. But that works.
In another application I have created a button on the master form which links to my edit form to create a new record. But it confuses users to Add a contact by click on the Add button completely something else.
When I create a button on the detail form it does not show. It looks like a buttons disappear when you use the grid as a detail form.
But in a previous post you mention taht you have done a lot of master/detail forms. But how do you solve it.
Here the customer form has two details for the same table contact. The first is the previous editable grid view and the second is a normal grid.
You will see on the contact grid no buttons to edit or add contacts.
When I run this grid as a separate form then I have all the buttons.
This is so weird. And I completly do not understand why. Because this should be a basic feature. You have a Customer. And the customer has contacts, so you must be able to add, edit and delete the contacts. The same with Orders and orderlines. Invoices and Invoicelines. Etc etc.
Inline editing is insuffient. In our other non-SC projects we have tables with more then 100 fields. We have even a table with 600 fields. And then inline editing don't work.
Thanks for the excellent pdf file.
The edit button is nog my biggest problem I used also the link feature to make a link of one column.
But you do not have a Add. As long as a customer has a order you can open an order then click Add. But if you have a new customer you do not have any orders. So how do you add orders.
I was think to use jsfiddle (http://forum.scriptcase.net/showthre...tion-in-a-form) to create a iframe just above the grid which loads a page with the buttons I need. I am not sure of it is going to work. Because I need the new form to be loaded outside of the iframe.
Still waiting for an anwser from Scriptcase. How difficult can it be to turn on some buttons that should be there in the first place.
When I have a detail form with a editable grid view it works so far, that I have still two problems.
1. When Add a record it is an inline editing and when I edit (pencil) a record it shows a modal view. I want always a modal view for the reason of my next point.
2. My detail table has 5 fields. In the editable grid view I only want to show 3 fields. But in the modal view to edit/add a record I want to be able to edit all fields.
